Life-saving lessons delivered to 7 million children

Thanks to our incredible supporters, we have educated over 7 million children and reached more than 20,000 schools globally since our journey began in 2013.

In the mission to eliminate rabies, we’re not just protecting dogs, we’re saving human lives. Education and community engagement is integral to our mass vaccination projects. If the risks of rabies are widely understood and appropriate dog bite treatment is well known – rabies is 100% preventable.

In countries where rabies is endemic, one of the most valuable lessons someone can learn is how to spot the signs of rabies. It could be the difference between life and death. That is why we are delivering education programmes across the world, from India to Malawi.

Educating children is essential as they are at high risk of dog bites and contracting rabies. Forty percent of reported rabies cases worldwide are children under the age of fifteen. Our educational sessions are aimed to empower children, their teachers, and their families with the knowledge to protect themselves.

In 2023, our education teams delivered life-saving lessons to more than 1.1 million children. We also reached over 24,000 teachers and more than 225,000 community members. In Malawi and Goa, our rabies protection lessons are now part of the national curriculum, placing our vital educational messages in front of over 17 million children every single year.

We are continuously increasing the coverage of our programmes; at the end of 2023, we expanded into the Chikwawa district in Malawi, and launched our first education programme in Mozambique.

Through the lessons delivered, we are ensuring that children around the world have access to life-saving information on rabies. We are equipping children with the knowledge that rabies is serious, teaching them how to be safe around dogs and showing them life-saving steps to avoid infection if bitten by a dog. We are creating a world where everyone has the tools to protect themselves from this deadly disease.
